Robert Neal Lester passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Bobby was born on December 18, 1946 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Florine Kleb Lester and Robert N. Lester and sister Betty Lester.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife Carole Booth Lester; his daughters, Robin Mowery and husband Tony, Jamie Manning and husband Tim; grandchildren, Ashley Barnes and husband Brandon, Megan Taylor, Kolten Manning; great-grandchildren, Elena Barnes, Tidus Barnes, Ellison Barnes, Bowen Barnes; brothers, Mickey Lester and wife Lisa, Ricky Lester and wife Terresa; nieces, Mikayla Allgood and husband John, Monica Lester; nephew, Kurtis Lester and wife Alyssa; grand-niece, Stevie Lester; mother-in-law, Joan Booth; brother-in-law, Richard Booth and wife Debra; and numerous other cousins and family members.

Bobby attended Immanuel Lutheran Elementary School, Hogg Junior High School and graduated from Reagan High School in 1964. He began his career as a machinist at Cameron Iron Works/Wyman Gordon in 1965, where he worked for 53 years until his retirement in 2018.

Bobby was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish with family and friends. His favorite activities were playing softball with the Wild Bunch and umpiring fast and slow pitch softball.

Bobby was a member of TASO, Texas Association of Sports Officials, and umpired high school baseball in the greater Houston area. He was honored to have officiated with so many outstanding umpires and enjoyed sharing stories about players, coaches and interesting plays on the field.

Bobby loved all family activities including picking berries with Robin and Jamie at Rosehill. He enjoyed working in the garden and other chores with Papa. The family reunions were a favorite time for all.

Bobby was a lifelong Astros fan and liked watching the games with Carole, as well as taking Lainey to the games on Dog Day.

The family would like to thank Encore Caregivers and Silverado Herman Park Memory Care as well as Silverado Hospice for their exceptional care.

A visitation for Bobby will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5000 W Tidwell Rd., Houston, TX 77091 with interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston, TX 77055.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bobby's name to Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will include Tommy Garman, Tim Manning, Matt Petway, Alan Kleb, Eric Juergen and Kurtis Lester.

Honorary Pallbearer: Kolten Manning.
