Robert J. Lloyd
WATERFORD - Robert J. Lloyd, 82, of Stoneheights Dr., Waterford died Thursday morning at Lawrence Memorial Hospital .He is the husband of the late Nellie Harris Lloyd.
He was born November 20, 1932 in New London the son of Phillip and Minnie Tinsdale Lloyd.
Mr. Lloyd had worked as a sheet metal worker first at H.R. Hillery Co in Groton and later at Premier Roofing Co. He is a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 40.
He was married to Nellie "Tootsie" Harris Lloyd at St. James Church in New London on September 17, 1955. Mrs. Lloyd died in April 1993.
Mr. Lloyd graduated from the Former Chapman Tech in New London where he had played football. He attended St. James Episcopal Church in New London, was a member of Union Lodge #31 AF & AM in Niantic and was a member of the Sphinx Bedouin Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S.
He is survived by 4 sons; Mark A. Lloyd and his wife Betsy of East Lyme, Jeffrey H. Lloyd and his wife Karen of East Lyme, James R. Lloyd and his wife Julia of Clinton and Jay H. Lloyd and his wife Jill of East Lyme, 1 Brother; Phillip Lloyd and his wife Faye of Waterford, 2 sisters; Margaret Andoska and her husband Andy of Waterford and Patricia Lee and her husband Carl of New London, 14 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren, and his companion Millie McGinty.
Funeral service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal St.,New London. Burial will follow in East Lyme Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 5 – 7 PM Tuesday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London with Union Lodge #31 A.F.&A.M. conducting a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00PM.
