CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Robert (Bob) Francis LOGAN passed away peacefully with his family present on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at the age of 101. Born in Seattle on October 22, 1915 to Mae (Cannon) and Albert Logan, he attended Brighton Elementary School in Rainer Valley and graduated from Franklin High School in 1934. Bob worked for the Civilian Conservation Core and the S.L. Savidge Dodge dealership while extending his education in banking and economics at Seattle University and the University of Washington.

In 1939 Bob met his future wife, Sybil Fogerty, at a dance at Lake Tapps. He landed a job with Seattle First National Bank in 1941, took a leave of absence to enlist in the Army Air Corps and serve his country during WWII. Bob and Sybil put their relationship on hold during his 3 year deployment to the Pacific Theatre (New Guinea), earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Bob returned to Seattle First and would spend the next 25 years as the Broadway Branch Manager on Capital Hill. He also managed the Plaza 500 Branch in downtown before retiring from Seattle First in 1977. He then accepted a job as President of Teachers State Bank (aka Evergreen Bank) for two years until retiring again in 1980.

Bob and Sybil married shortly after the war on May 19, 1945. They settled in the Wedgwood neighborhood and raised three children involving many years of neighborhood get togethers, often including baseball games, camping trips on the West Coast, and summers spent at Aunt Mae's cabin on the Kitsap Pennisula. Great times were also had at the Camano Island cabin owned by Bob's cousin Hal Logan and his family. Bob and Hal worked hard at that cabin, fixing plumbing and wiring, clearing land, chopping wood, fishing and always ending the day with a lively cocktail hour with their wives!

Bob was a member of the Capital Hill Kiwanis Club, involved in Capital Hill's Seafair planning committee, and served on various community and business boards. He always enjoyed reading, especially the financial newspapers, and loved crossword puzzles, traveling with Sybil to Europe, Canada, many states, Hawaii being the favorite. A favorite summer experience was when Grandpa Bob would rent beach homes for several years on Whidbey Island for the whole family to enjoy. Another highlight of Bob's retirement was the weekly poker games with the old neighborhood gang.

Bob is survived by his daughter Maureen Holstad (Andy), grandsons Alex Levell (Rachel) and Brent Levell (Michell), 5 great-grandchildren Logan, Bryce, Tessa, Ryder and Beckett, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by Sybil Fogarty Logan, his wife of 65 years, and sons Robert Michael and James Vincent. The family sincerely thanks Jesse and Lita, Tina and Maya, Bob's loving caregivers at the Sacred Heart Adult Family Home; and Dr. Sarah Roskam.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11AM on Monday, June 12th at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St., Shoreline.
A reception to celebrate Bob's life will follow. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice.
