Robert Maccani
Frankenmuth, MI
Bob Maccani, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday May 15, 2021.
Loving and devoted husband of Donna (Murawski), and father of Robert.
Robert was born on February 13, 1941 in Detroit to the late Erminio and Mary (Giardelli) Maccani. After graduating high school Bob joined the US Army and served his country for a time before eventually starting a career as a pattern maker in Detroit. In 1972 Bob and his family relocated to Frankenmuth when he stared his career with GM in Saginaw. He eventually retired from there after 30 years of work.
After retirement Bob enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona with his wife Donna where he took up golf and loved to ride his ATV in the desert with friends. Bob’s lifelong passion was Detroit sports. He especially loved the Tigers and never missed a game on TV or radio. His highlight was being present when the 1984 Tigers won the World Series. He was also a major dog lover and had several golden retrievers. He was often seen walking his dog near List School and Memorial Park where the school children were often entertained by them. He will be missed by his current dog Max.
Bob was a long-time member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and embraced his Catholic faith and community.
Impaired by a debilitating illness in 2019, Bob never gave up, lost his sense of humor, or his love of life and his family.
Bob is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 57 years, and his only child Robert (Martha). He is also survived by 2 brothers, Dino and Richard, and 2 grandchildren, Evan (Alexa) Maccani, and Hayley Maccani.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate. Bob’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials made in Robert’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice.
Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
