To the family of a great American hero and miracleworker,
Dr. Maciunas will be greatly missed by our society as a whole and in particular by our family. In 2005, he and his surgical team saved the life of my stepson, Adam Keathley. After 2 open-brain surgeries, with a total of 31 hours, he and his team completely removed a golf-ball-sized central neurocytoma that would have otherwise killed Adam. His hard work and diligence saved Adam and allowed him to continue being a great father...

I was fortunate to be a resident in neurosurgery at Vanderbilt while Dr. Maciunas was a faculty professor. He and I were near in age and I learned computer assisted neurosurgical techniques from him. He was diligent in the pursuit of a new technology we all take for granted today. His efforts will live on forever helping the infirmed. Anyone who knew him should be honored and we will miss him and his gentle manner.

We were not close friends, but I distinctly remember attending a performance of Die Walküre together at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 1972 during our first quarter at NU.
He was a serious and dignified guy even at that young age, though not without a keen...

Dr. maciunas performed surgery on my son
a few years ago after seeing many other doctors that weren't as hopeful. Because
of his skill and talent my son is alive,
was rehabilitated and is now working in
at University Hospital of Cinti.
You will never know how greatful we
were for Dr. M
