Bob and I were lifeguards at North Ave. Beach in 1955. We doubled going to the lifeguard dance that summer. Always a gentleman, and one of the best teachers I ever knew. I'll miss you, Bob. Godspeed!

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing, he has left an indelible mark on the lives of so many young people in the Chicago area. He was master story teller and always had a great aventure to tell about. He always had a moment to catch up with with me when we would bump into each other and would reminisce about an event at Leone that had occured 25 or 30 years ago. I will miss those chance meetings somewhere in the neighborhood, however he is just entertaining a different crowd now!

I always enjoyed working with Bob at Oak St. Beach (lifeguarding), Racine Quarry (SCUBA diving), Eckhart Park (swim meets), and North Avenue Beach (Chicago Park District Lifeguard Instructors Institute) where his classes in knot tieing were unmatched. Bob was a superb sailor, and kindly included me as a crew member in an adventure-filled sailing trip across Lake Michigan in the middle 70's on his sailboat, a trip which I will never forget. I have not seen or heard from Bob in over 10 years, but that was okay. He had been a dear and cherished friend for many, many years. I always many times that we spent together.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Bob. I have known him since high school in Manhattan, KS and will always remember the good times we had at his grandfathers farm and swimming in the city pool. He was a warm, intelligent person and will be missed by all who knew him.

Sorry to hear about Bobby, I knew him for a very long time. We had some real good times together, form North Ave. beach in the 60's, all the way to Touhy Ave. beach further down the line. Bobby, you'll be missed by many. AMF and via con Dios, mi muy amigo.

My brothers Grif,John and Frank remember fondly all the great times we shared together.From Leone (before it became Leone)to impromtu gatherings,Bob was quick with a quip as well as smile.He will be missed.My deepest sympathy.
