Not sure what to say?

It was with great sadness that I learned of Bob;s passing. I will always remember his smile and great wit mixed in with his science.

My condolence to all family and friends :*(. I worked with Bob in Microbiology many years ago and was touched by his wry sense of humor, remarkable intelligence, and especially his warm & caring nature.

I was heavily influenced by Bob's research over many decades. It was, therefore, a great delight to work with Bob (and get to know him) when we worked together on an 'Expert Panel'. His depth of knowledge, combined with his wit and humility, was a compelling mix. I send my sincere condolences to his family.

Very sad to see the news of Bob's passing away. I had the pleasure of reading Bob's seminal papers on oral microbiology, then meeting Bob in person, and finally collaborating with him quite recently. His intellect was there for all to see from all of his academic achievements. When you met the man, he was all and more you would have thought the best scientists to be - warm, thoughtful, generous. It was a privilege to have know you Bob. My deepest condolences to Diana and family. RIP Bob

I wouldn't be the scientist I am today if it weren't for Dr. Marquis. He was an amazing professor and advisor, who installed in me the joy of discovery.

It was with profound sadness that Donna and I learned of Bob's passing. Bob was one of my favorite professors at Rochester. His gentle nature and friendliness made it easy to talk with him. It was his call that convinced me to go to Rochester. The personal interest he showed then was characteristic of his dedication to students.

Bob was an exceptional person: A brilliant scientist and even better mentor. His kind, gentle, patient spirit was always an inspiration and something I wish I could emulate. Heartfelt condolences to Diana and his family.

Dr. Marquis was a wonderful person and mentor. His friendly smile, his blue/gray cardigan and starting sentences with "Actually" will stay in my memory forever. My condolences to the family.

What a lovely gentle brilliant man. I smile when I remember talking with him. Heartfelt condolences to his dear wife, family and friends.
