Not sure what to say?

Maxie was one of the most unselfish people I've ever known. His technical expertise in photography was obvious, but his people skills were even better. Like many others at the Gazette, especially in the 1960s, '70s and '80s, he brought out the best in each of us in the newspaper family.

To Wendy and Leslie,

Our deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your father.

We loved your dad and mom like family.

Sixty four years ago we were a foursome of best friends. Great fun and great memories could fill a bunch of albums as we spent time together as often as possible, through the years.

Bob carried on without Jean but it was never the same for him.

Bob was a super guy, loving, fun and caring.
We will miss his smile, wit and...

Bob (and Jean) were great neighbors and they will be missed by many of us here in the Tamarron neighborhood. He and she were classy, caring people and it was both an honor and a pleasure to have known them.

With Bob's passing, another part of that foundation has been washed away. Rick also served during the Korean War, and is buried at the lovely Fort Custer. Rick's inscription there reads: If a photo is worth a thousand words, Rick spoke volumes. That is the legacy of the old-school news photographers. Their yellowed photo clippings...

Leslie, Wendy and family,
I remember Bob as a down to earth guy who loved his girls. His photography skills are memorable as well. My deepest sympathies to you all.
Best,
Laurel Johnson Barber

Bob was a wonderful colleague and a great photographer. I always looked forward to having him document the stories I worked on during my time at the "Kalamazoo Gazette." My condolences to his family.

Wendy, Bruce, Leslie

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your Dad. He was really a nice guy. Met him years ago when we were both a the Gazette.

What a great man who did awesome things for Kalamazoo. Wendy and Bruce very sorry for your loss.

Robert invited me to his home a couple of years ago to look at all the pictures he had taken. He even shared some with me, a wonderful person. Thanks for your friendship.
