Not sure what to say?

It has "been a minute" but there are far too many joyful memories to ever forget. Rob was the best of people and the best of friends. Wish that we all could be as kind and caring as Rob Mayer.

I just learned of Rob's death. he was a friend and teacher. As a newly minted rabbi he inspired me, guided me and always made me laugh.

As difficult as it is to find adequate words, I hope Debra and the kids (not so much kids anymore) will take comfort knowing that friends share with you in your grief. God gave us memories so that we may have flowers in winter. May the fond memories lighten your burden and support you in the future.

May you and your family be spared any further...

Rob was my roommate at Kenyon College, where we were classmates of 1971.
He was a wonderful friend, a brilliant scholar, and a caring man.
I can think of no higher compliment one person can pay another than what I can say about Rob:
"He made me want to be a better person."

I was privileged to know Robert Mayer in his role as an extraordinary advocate for seniors. He was clearly a remarkable man in every aspect of his life. On behalf of all of us at Goodman Theatre I send condolences to his family including Jaimie who graced us with her presence in Chicago for a short while. Our thoughts are with you.

Roche Schulfer

The Levy SeniorCenter will always be grateful to Rob for the beautiful garden he gave to us.

Our deepest sympathies to the family. He was a very special man.

Carole and Joe Levy

I want to send my deepest sympathy to Jon, Jaimie, and Jenny (whom I know well) and to the rest of the family. I hope that the good memories will eventually help heal the pain of the moment.

Rob will be missed!

Dear Debbie and Kids:

I am so sorry to hear of Rob's passing. May all the great memories of a husband and father comfort you through these difficult days

Rob stepped so very gently yet left a huge footprint.

The world is a better place for his having lived here.
