Robert E. Mayo Sr.

Myrtle Beach, SC — Robert E. Mayo, Sr, 84, of Myrtle Beach, passed away after a brief illness on September 29, 2021. Robert was born on January 12, 1937, the son of the late Albert and Evelyn Mayo. After graduating from Concord High School, Robert proudly joined and served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 - 1960 as an Airplane Mechanic Apprentice. After his military service, Robert returned to Concord, NH, and worked at New Design Upholstery until he owned and operated Frost Interiors. Upon retiring, Robert enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Myrtle Beach with his wife, Ginny. After her passing in 2015, he resided solely in Myrtle Beach. Robert was known to his family and close friends as Bob Sinatra for his love of the crooner Frank Sinatra who he loved to emulate performing Karaoke wherever he traveled. Most often at Harry the Hats in Myrtle Beach. In addition to his love for Karaoke, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing tennis, and trivia, spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Club and American Legion.

Robert is predeceased by his wife Ginny of 40 years and his brother Richard Mayo.

He is survived by his sister Janet Foley. His children, Robert Mayo Jr. and wife Paula, Mike Mayo and wife Nancy, Heidi Parker and husband George, Carrie Fontone, Jeff Mayo, and wife Amy. His stepchildren Gregory Savage, Kevin Savage, and Linda 0'Malley. Grandchildren Melissa Morin, Robert Mayo III, Colleen Mayo, James Fontone, Christopher Fontone, Allyson Mayo; great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He will be greatly missed but will live forever in our hearts.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 12, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King, St. Johns Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord, NH.

Burial with military honors will be held at NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen at 12:00PM.

The Waters Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
