Not sure what to say?

Dear Ruth and Family-

All of us in the Burich family were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. You were all like a second family to us and Bob was a wonderful man. I have many fond memories of Bob and Ruth sitting around our bar with Mom and Dad sharing Manhattans and military stories. Bob is probably sitting in a heavenly "O" Club somewhere right now sharing a drink and catching up with Joe and Dorie. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. All our...

Dearest Ruth and every member of the McCabe family,

Your captain, our captain, will be dearly missed but not forgotten. My most sincere condolences with the passing of "Bob". I extend my deepest sympathies. May God bless each of you at this time of sorrow.

Bob, to all who had his acquaintance, made such ever-lasting impressions. I was a midshipman aboard USS NEW JERSEY in June, 1969, when I first saluted this most impressive Captain. He engaged me with curiosity and...

He was our Captain.

USS Samuel N. Moore DD-747

This was His ship:

These are from previous crew members of the USS Samuel N. Moore:
*** Merle Strickland, 46-47: As a Naval Chaplain I met Captain McCabe when he was CO of Destroyer School in Newport, R.I. He gave me a picture of the Moore, for which I was grateful. We told a few sea stories about the ship..

*** Paul S Beaumont, 60-63: I was honored to have served under Capt. McCabe while aboard the "Moore". I never knew another officer who was so concerned about the crew's morale. I had hopped to see...

Ruth & family,

On behalf of all of Bob's USS FOX Reunion Association shipmates, please accept our most sincere condolences at the loss of your husband and father, our shipmate and friend. All who served with him knew him as an excellent Captain, one who could recognize and foster our strengths, build a cohesive crew, and lead by sterling example. Many of us share the opinion that he was the best Captain we ever went to sea with.

As for Vicki and me, we will sorely miss him, his...

Dear McCabe family,

My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Capt'n Bob. He was a wonderful boss and friend. I will always remember him walking into our systems training office at Unisys (now Lockheed Martin) in Eagan MN asking "Another day in which to excel. Are we excelling yet?"

Dr. Steve Yahr

Dear Ruth and Family,

We will remember Bob as a man of integrity, honest and sincere, and always with a twinkle in his eye. We enjoyed our visits, whenever we met, and will miss him greatly.

God Bless you all.
