McColl, Robert "Dr. Bob" – age 76, of Knoxville, formerly of McColl, South Carolina, died on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Little Creek Sanitarium with his wife, dear friends, and caregivers surrounding him. Bob's life was defined and shaped by his gift as a healer. He began his path after graduating from Wake Forest and Southeastern Seminary ministering for several years in churches in North Carolina. Bob then got his M.S.W. from UNC Chapel Hill and began a long and exciting career in addiction recovery. Dr. Bob had an impact on thousands of individuals working toward recovery. He was kind, clinically tough, direct and playful, and unconditionally loving to those around him. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered by thousands who found the courage to change through their work in him. Robert will be missed but never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sisters, all of North Carolina. Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" McColl; son, Brendan McColl and wife, Annie, of Adelaide, South Australia; grandchildren, Emma, Georgia, and Sophie McColl; sister, Margaret Shaw, of Kempner, Texas. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday at 5:00 pm at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Robert E. Money officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018, or Cornerstone of Recovery Robert McColl Group Psychotherapist Continuing Education Memorial Fund, 1214 Topside Rd., Louisville, TN 37777.
