Preacher McCraw, as he was called when I was a child at Beaumont United Methodist, was the first minister I had and his kindness is something that I remember about him and his wife. They were precious people. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. Our prayers are with the family during this time of sorrow.

Mr. McCraw was one of my very first patients in my nursing carrer. He was always a ray of sunshine especially when I sat down with him and asked about his ministry life. Mr. McCraw was young with excitment. When I realized how old he was at the time I was eager to ask him the 'secret to a long life'. He answered with, "Live in the Lord". I will always remember Rev McCraw. He and his beautiful wife Etta were good friends with my grandparents, George & Blanche Strange from Enoree. I grew up in the Drayton Methodist Church (now Skylyn) and my parents (Mack & Jane Strange) are still members there. Rev McCraw was a real inspiration to me in my teenage years when I needed it most. He always had time! My heart and my prayers are with his wonderful family. Your dad, grandpa, and friend are smiling down on you from Heaven!

I grew up in Beaumont and I remember when Rev. McCraw was the Methodist Church there. My mother's brother married one of his nieces; she was Marie McCraw Cartee. For some time she and my uncle lived near Cliffside, NC but then they moved to Charlotte and lived there until my uncle died and she remained there until her death.
Please know that I am remembering the Family in your time of grief. I hope this poem will bring you comfort and peace.
