May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of Bob as you celebrate a life well lived.

Enjoyed slot car racing against him. I was always last.

So shocked and saddened by this news. I had just spoke to Bob after visiting with my friend Jan that week of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family .

The slot car racing faithful at Pelican Park Speedway in the Eugene/Springfield area have always enjoyed the evenings when Bob McFarland would shepherd his band of Portland slot car racers down for a Wednesday evening of spirited slot racing at Pelican. We will miss Bob when the remainder of his posse come down to race with us. We at Pelican Park recently lost our oldest racer when Todd Messenger passed, also at 81, in early January of ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease. All of our best thoughts...

Bob was one of the nicest and most respected men I have ever met. I met Bob like a lot of his friends, through slot car racing. He was a great builder and competitor. He was the co-founder of the longest running slot car club in the Portland area, and the main driving force for the most organized racing in Oregon. Bob loved the slot car hobby and put forth much time and effort in promoting it. The vacancy Bob has left in our slot car community will never be filled, be we will always remember...

Bob racing his slot car on his track.

Bob was a good friend and he always beat me at the slot car races, he was VERY good! I wound up with his slot car controller, maybe some of his skills will transfer over to me! We teased each other about Harley Davidson motorcycles vs. just about any bike except a Harley for Bob! He is in my mind a lot and will always be, especially at the slot car track!

I took this picture on a dirt bike trip that he invited me to in 2012, he even provided a bike for me to ride beings mine is illegal...

The slot car racers have lost a great friend and racer. We will miss him.
