Remembered by his expression, "It's great to be alive", it is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Coach Robert J. McKee, 95, at his home in Farmington, Monday, December 4, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (Chiesa) McKee, both formerly of West Hartford. Born...

Not sure what to say?

I want to wish the McKee family my sincere condolences at the passing of a wonderful man. My husband, Joe, played baseball at the old Hall High 1950 - 1952 and we both had so much respect and admiration for him. I last saw him at my 50th class reunion 2003 and he told me Joe could always turn to the right better than to the left as the team's shortstop! I am writing this note from WI and just received the sad news from one of my classmates. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To the family of Bob McKee,
I was a big fan of your dad's. I knew him when I taught for a few years at Conard and for many years afterwards when I worked at Hall. He was always such a gentleman. About 25 years ago, after I saw his paintings, I commissioned an art work. It's hanging in my living room over the mantle, a beautiful painting of my house with the deer and bird I asked him to put into the work. I look at it every day and think of your kind and loving...

Coach McKee was a unique and wonderful man. He was tenacious and loving. He was hard and gentle. He is actually the person who inspired me to be a coach. I worked for him summers in Park & Rec (pre-Leisure Services) and he always would ask me why I played tennis and not baseball. He couldn't believe that someone's parents would forbid them from playing the all-American game. But most of all I remember the relationship that he had not...

Proud to say, "I played for this man and coached with him as well." In return he guided me, from afar, my entire career of teaching and coaching. Some of my fondest memories are of swinging into that crazy road/driveway to get to his house (one time on a motorcycle) just to "touch base." To see his paintings, to talk about so much. Football was just way to get to a young man's soul and he did that to many of us.

My sincere condolences to the entire McKee-Cersosimo family.

I will never forget Bob as my boss, a recreation supervisor, throughout the late 1960's. Bob would come by when Rob and I were
working, tell a joke, tell us not to work too hard, and we all laughed. He was a great coach and family man, a true legend who will be sorely missed.

I will always remember Coach McKee as my baseball coach and gym teacher during my years at Conard. As a current high school coach his class, dignity and support for all his players is something I try to emulate. I want to send my deepest condolences to his daughter Debbie who I graduated with and to her husband Matt who I taught with at Hall and Conard as well as the family. Marty DiTuccio

We are so very sorry to hear of the passing
Of Coach McKee. Our son Mark Calabrese
Passed March 2016 and all we could say
He will be so happy to see his coach
Entering thru the gates of heaven where
We are sure Mark would be waiting for
Him and who knows maybe even throwing
Him a football. Mark thought Coach walked
On water and Coach treated Mark with
Much respect. As the Calabrese family
We will miss the thought of him not being
Around...

I am so saddened to hear of Coach's passing. My late husband Donald played for him at Conard from 1956-60 and kept in touch through the years. We enjoyed visiting with him in West Hartford whenever we returned to Connecticut. Coach always exhibited such warmth and genuine concern for his players... even when they became "old men"! I will continue to think of him often as I am proud to say we have one of his paintings of the Chieftain Territory hanging in our home. Coach was a man who...
