Dear Aunt Dorie, Cousins Bill, Kurt, Jeff, Susie, Eric, and John and Kara,

It was a shock to learn just yesterday (3/26) of the unexpected death of Bobby (as we called him when we were growing up). Because I was out of the country at the time of his death and because I no longer live in the Akron area, the news just reached me at my home in London, Ontario, Canada. To Aunt Dorie and Cousins Bill, Kurt, Jeff, Susie, and Eric,

The separation of years makes Bob's sudden departure even more grievous. Somehow we take for granted that we will see one another again and then life intervenes. It has been years since I last saw Bob; we had a great time talking politics! I wish I'd had more time with him. My mother and Judy and I regret not knowing in time to support you and the rest of his family at the funeral. You all are in our hearts and in our prayers.

Dear Kara,
We went to elementary school together. I still keep up with Kelly & Leslie. It was a shock to find out about your dad. I am sorry and know we are keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Donna, I am Jeff McLaughlin's mother-in-law, Lynne's mother, and I was shocked and so sorry to hear about Bob. I only met him once when the whole family came to Denver to Susie's wedding ten years or so ago. I had forgotten how much he looks like Doris. Hang in there.

Reading many of these messages impressed upon me the importance of loving your family and friends while they are still alive. I want to have a positive influence on others just like Robert clearly did.

I was so saddened when I received the call from Erik telling me the news of Bob's unexpected death. Over the past two years, I considered myself so blessed Erik met such a wonderful girl, Christina, as he entered the next stage of his life at The Ohio State University.
