Robert M Meeks of Sun City, AZ

Robert (Bob) was 83 years old.
He is predeceased by his parents Robert Mancil and Lillian Caroline Meeks formerly of Globe, Arizona. Bob was born in St. Marys, West Virginia on October 5, 1939, and moved to Globe, AZ in 1949. Later to Phoenix in the early 1960s. Robert proudly served in the Army National Guard of Arizona.
Bob is survived by his wife 53 years, Barbara Sue Meeks of Sun City, AZ. Two children, a daughter, Tracie L Meeks Adames of Sun City, and a son Kenneth R Meeks and DIL Kelly Meeks of Littleton, CO. Two granddaughters, Cadence Meeks of Mesa, AZ, Emma Meeks Fuller and husband Eric Fuller of Denver, CO. One grandson Jacob Meeks of Littleton, CO, and a great-granddaughter River Fuller of Denver. And granddaughter Jennifer Miller Rousseau of Dripping Springs, Texas.
Bob had many interests including vintage motorcycles, vintage cars, muscle cars, RC cars and airplanes as well as bowling and guns. He loved traveling and together he and his wife traveled to all but 2 states, Alaska and North Dakota. He was a member of the Southwest Street Rods, World of Wheels, AVDRA, Teamsters Local Union #83/104. Bob and two of his friends built and raced a Vintage Roadster and raced it at Bonneville Salt Flats.
He was employed as a mechanic on domestic vehicles and spent 10 years as a Volkswagen mechanic before joining the Teamsters Local 83 as a heavy-duty mechanic. He eventually became Executive Secretary of the Teamsters Joint Apprentice and Training System.
He retired as Executive Secretary of the Arizona Teamsters Apprenticeship Local 83 in 2003 after many years training and coordinating on the job training for Driver Apprentices and Mechanic/ Welder Apprentices.
A celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 Saturday, March 18, 2023

Prayers, his mother was my Great Uncle Pete Schultz´s sister and his dad was my Grandmother´s brother. My dad Howard, last saw him when he was 15, on a visit to St Marys. May God continue to bless his family out west
