Robert "Pete" Michaels, 76, died peacefully at his home in Scottsboro on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. There will be a visitation at Randall's Chapel United Methodist Church on Veterans Drive (Highway 35) in Scottsboro from 3 to 5 this evening. The funeral will follow at 5 p.m. at the church with Dr. Terry L. Greer and the Rev. Mike Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Myrtle Michaels; sister, Jannie Louise Michaels; and brother, Fred Michaels.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jurdy Michaels; son, Scott (Holly) Michaels

of Scottsboro; daughter, Kim (Dan) Fite of Decatur; six grandchildren,

Harrison and Gini Beth Michaels of Scottsboro and Dan Jr., Beverly, Dawson and Crawford Fite of Decatur; two sisters, Virginia Wilson and Chloe Breland of Langston; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Randall's Chapel United Methodist

Church Mission Project and mailed to: Rev. Mike Carver, 1004 Hood Ave. Scottsboro, AL 36758.

Scottsboro Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
