Robert A. Mikrut, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Robert came from Illinois where he worked in farming. He became a hairstylist and then worked for the Post Office for many years before retiring and moving to Palm Aire in Pompano Beach. Robert also volunteered at the Pride Center and was a member of SAGE. He is predeceased by his partner of many years, Frank Bennett. Survived by his niece, Diana Skiba of IN; nephew Theodore Skiba of IL; cousin Joan Bellford of IL; his partner's niece Marianne Morse, of IL. and many friends in Ft. Lauderdale including William Gearrity, Yolanda Begin, John Cousidiene and Louis Rocha. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11 AM in St. Henry Catholic Church 1500 S. Andrews Ave. Pompano Beach. He will be buried in the Southside Cemetery, Pontiac, IL, next to his partner, Frank. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to SAGE. Arrangement by Kalis-McIntee Funeral Home, Wilton Manors.
