I loved Mr. Mitchell and was surprised and saddened to hear of his passing. He was so full of life that it seemed he would live forever. Indeed his legacy will, as he was one of the most brilliant and distinctive teachers at North. Everything from his brisk gait to his zany handwriting to his wild hairstyle set him apart from the rest. I very much liked and respected Robert. He was a premier teacher of Latin at Newton North, someone who continued to take advanced courses at Harvard. He kept himself in great shape by exercising vigorously daily and doing hard construction work in the summer. He had a warm, engaging personality. I always enjoyed seeing him in the early mornings at the Waverly Oaks Health Club in Waltham. We all miss him.

I was sad to hear about bobby's passing but after reading the Tribune story and the comments by his current and former students ... It is clear that he left a substantive and positive mark on the lives of many young peple and that is more than many people can say.
I smiled reading that one of his students claimed him to be the most enigmatic ... " So Bobby, to be sure! I am sure that he is smiling over that!
