Monsieur Mitman was my favorite teacher in High School. I'll always remember his kindness and patience with students. I learned a great deal from him and I still have a copy of Camus La peste he gave me on my bookshelf. His approach to teaching was an inspiration to me and one of the reasons I became a College Professor. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and I hope they find comfort in the many lives he touched.

Clay, it was such a privilege to speak with you over the past few months, and to do what we could to help you take such excellent care of your father. He knew he was loved. I'm sorry for your loss, but I know your dad is at peace, and HAD the peace of knowing he was among loving family. Your dad has the kind of son every dad should have! Don't hesitate to call again if Evelyne or I can ever be of assistance. Blessings and peace to you and yours.

We have lost someone who loved to teach and his students appreciated his passion for teaching. I am better for having been a student of Monsieur Mitman and I suspect there are many others like me.

Clay,
Sorry to see your father's passing. He was a wonderful person. I got to know him from my days at Wilson High School. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Brother Jay

My condolences to your family. What a lovely man and wonderful teacher he was. I took French class with him
for three years at Wilson and went on to take it for three more years in college. We read Les Miserables and I'll always remember it. I used to babysit for Grant and Clay and their Great Pyrenees dog. I will always remember his kindness and sense of humor.

The Wilson High School Class of 1960 sends their deepest sympathies to the Robert C. Mitman family.

My condolances to your Family. Mr. Mitman was a wonderful teacher and Mentor. Although I never had him as a teacher he always found time to help me with my lessons even not French. One Little Episode stands out for me. I joined the Air Force and was stationed in Germany, came home on leave and visited Wilson High spotted him in the hallway and greeted him in French. He got the biggest smile I ever saw on him and gave me a hug. Will never Forget him. Class of 1964.
