KINGSPORT — Robert M. Morrow, 78, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at Alexian Village Health & Rehabilitation Center on Signal Mountain. Mr. Morrow was born in Jacksonville, Fla. He was the son of the late Carl Elmer Morrow and Mary Lee McCandlish. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 1959. He served in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962, where, in addition to playing bridge in the back of his ambulance, he earned his private pilot's license. Mr. Morrow joined Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, in 1959 as a salesman in the specialties dye division, retiring after 40 years of service as vice president and general manager of the fine chemical division. He was a member of the Kingsport Rotary Club. Mr. Morrow was passionate about travel, fishing and photography, often combining the three whenever and wherever he could. One of his favorite places to fish and photograph was Alaska, where he captured shots of incredible wildlife, stunning mountain vistas and fly-fished unexplored streams and lakes for wild rainbow trout and salmon. A passionate woodworker and craftsman, Mr. Morrow also enjoyed creating Windsor chairs which quickly became family heirlooms, as well as stained glass art pieces and handmade books full of his own photographs, poems and wise words, which he shared with family and friends. Mr. Morrow was a man of deep Christian conviction. He was a reader, Sunday school teacher, EYC director and communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport, and later joined the men's group at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church on Signal Mountain. He was sustained by the love and grace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during his 20+ year battle with parkinson's disease. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Sarah (Sally) F. Morrow, who provided faithful and loving care during his fight with parkinson's disease; his son, Charles Morrow (wife, Laura Morrow), of Signal Mountain; daughters, Sarah Garcia (husband, Jerry Garcia), of Adrian, Mich., and the Rev. Canon Milly Morrow, of Asheville, N.C. as well as eight grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church on Signal Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport. Interment will be at later date at St. Paul's in Kingsport, Tenn.
