Mr. Nagelkirk was one of my favorite teachers. He cared about us, was a good teacher and always made us laugh. What a blessing to so many!(Mrs. Nagelkirk you were one of my favorite teachers too;) Prayers for your family. LOVE!

Bea-We thank God for Bob's life and especially the positive influence he had on his family and "his band kids". He was respected for his demands for excellence, understanding and encouragement. We felt blessed to have known and worked with Bob and experienced his love for God and his fellow man.

We are praying that God will hold and carry you during your new life without Bob.

We are very sorry to learn of Bob's death. We enjoyed playing in the Kalamazoo Concert Band with him years ago (and always appreciated the rehearsal space at his school too). Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

When I think back to high school, my fondest memories are of band. It was a two-way street with Mr. N; he loved all of us and we loved him. Mr. N invited me to play the tympani when I started high school because the existing percussionists could read rhythms but not notes on a staff. I could read notes, but I wasn't that great with rhythms. He always came up with clever ways to help me out; my favorite was "cinnamon roll." Mr. N gave all of us the joy of music, and I will always remember...

I enjoyed band immensely under Mr Nagelkirk. He is one teacher that has left a lasting impression on me.

I have had the pleasure of both adjudicating with Bob and having my groups adjudicated by Bob. Although his standards were high, he never forgot he was an educator first and foremost. Reading the wonderful tributes by former students truly demonstrates he had the heart and soul of a teacher of the highest calibre. My sincere sympathy goes to his family. He will be missed.
