I first met Bobby at Wiggin's in 1969 when I heard him discussing politics with Simon Perry. I asked myself "who is this breath of fresh air who knows the issues and seems to really believe what he says?" I supported him thereafter.

Bobby Nelson stimulated many of us to take part in the political process. As a non-partisan member of the League of Women Voters, I did not campaign for him; but I worked with him on important issues. As one of Congressman Ken Hechler's staff members, Bobby helped us know how to work on federal legislation in D.C. When Bobby was a WV Senator, he led the charge to write the first campaign finance law. When Bobby was elected mayor, he supported programs for the Homeless. Bobby brought both...
