Mr. O'Callahan was such a major part of my childhood, growing up on the Boulevard, right around the corner from the family abode on Linden. He always looked after me as a kid, then was my beer drinking buddy as an adult. He also was an avid reader of my column and told me when he either agreed (most of the time) or disagreed (sometimes) with what I wrote. But he was a great man, a staple of the old neighborhood, someone who will be missed. He's with his Joanie now and I hope they're both...

I just got off the phone with my father, Hank Derzinski, where he was reminiscing about good times with Bob and Joan (my grandparents). He wanted me to send his deepest condolences to the entire O'Callahan family. RIP
