Robert G. Owens, 81, of Longwood, Florida, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on February 11, 1932 in Carbondale, Illinois to John and Chola Owens. He lived most of his life in Florida after graduating from University of Florida in 1961 with a degree in Architecture. He worked in Illinois, Virginia and Florida before opening his own office in Winter Park, Florida in 1977. His business, RGO Architect, is still operated by his son Robert G. Owens, Jr. Bob loved his profession, as well as playing the piano and writing books. His last one was "Doc" which dealt with his experiences as a Navy and Marine corpsman during the Korean War. Bob served in the Navy and Marines from 1951 to 1955. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan, sons, David and wife, Jana, Todd and wife Janet, Rob, Jr. and wife Sheila and daughter, Margaret and husband, Dr. Ben Guedes. He was loved by eight grandchildren, Natalie, John Robert, Jennifer, Michael Todd, Sarah, Jeffery, Chelsea and Angelica, and three great grandchildren, Bently, Tristan and Hadley. His beloved grandson, John Robert, passed away January 1992. Visitation for Bob will be Thursday, January 16 from 5-7PM at Collison Family Funeral Home, 335 E. State Road 434, Longwood, Florida, with a private burial on January 17 at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, for the family.
