It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Norman Paczkowski announces his passing after a brief, but valiant battle with cancer, on Sunday November 11, 2018 at the age of 80 years. He passed away peacefully in his home on Camano Island, WA.
Bob is lovingly remembered by Claudine, his wife and best friend of 57 years and his three daughters Robyn, Pam (Dave) and, Jeanne (Chris). He is also fondly remembered by his four grandchildren Paige, Brittany (Kris), Jill (Shane), and Dylan (Lauren).
Bob was born on July 8, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana to Zygmund and Theresa Paczkowski. He married the love of his life, Claudine, in 1961 and together they moved into married housing at Purdue University. In 1962 Bob graduated from Purdue University with a MSME degree in Engineering and an emphasis in shock and vibration. Upon graduating, Bob accepted an engineering position in Washington State where he went on to work as a mechanical engineer in underwater acoustics for more than 30 years. Bob received many awards for his technical abilities and was highly regarded for his skill and knowledge. After retiring, he studied art and became an active artist in the art community on Camano Island where he entered his artwork in the Camano Island Studio tour for many years.
Bob was a devoted husband, a loving father and a great family man. He enjoyed spending time laughing and joking with family and friends, hiking in the mountains, kayaking and crabbing at Camano Island, walking the beach with Claudine and painting in his art studio. He will always be remembered for his heart-felt laugh, his quest for knowledge, his deep love of nature and his artistic talents. Bob passed away on a hero’s holiday and will forever be our hero.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 AM on November 30, 2018, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Stanwood, WA with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob’s life. Memorial Donations in memory of Bob can be made to Marlece Duncan Shoe Fund.
