Robert “Bob” Patton passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2025, surrounded by
his loving family.
Bob was a man whose life was defined by love, generosity, and a steadfast commitment
to those he cared about. Known affectionately as Bob, Good Ol’ Bob, Stanley, Bobbie,
Daddy Don’t, Papa Bear, or Robert (if in trouble), he lived with humor and heart. Bob
believed a person’s word was their bond. He was someone you could always count on,
a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and showed affection through his trademark
teasing smile and twinkle in his squinty eyes.
He shared 57 wonderful years with his late wife, Helen, and together they built a family
grounded in unconditional love. Their years together were filled with joy, partnership,
and deep faith. Bob was blessed to spend the last eight years with his partner, Loretta
McCray. Together they enjoyed traveling, cheering on the Chiefs and the Mustangs, and
spending time with family and friends.
Bob found joy in the simple things—morning coffee with friends, woodworking,
afternoons on the golf course, walks hand in hand with Loretta, or long drives pointing
out plants and trees along the roadside to his grandchildren. He loved celebrating the
accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and was always present to support
them in their activities. Whether offering guidance, teaching the value of hard work, or
simply showing up with encouragement, Bob’s family knew his love and pride ran deep.
He is survived by his partner, Loretta McCray; daughters Lynn Wilson (Gerry) and
Kathy Patton (Todd Ward); grandchildren Zach Wilson (Rachael), Alix Cronin
(Jarret), and Gaige Wilson (Emma); and great-grandchildren Carter, Mavry, Lincoln,
and Lucas.
Visitation will be held on September 2 from 4:30–5:30 p.m., followed by a service at
5:30 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Blvd. St. Joseph, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Haven (summer camp for children ages
8-12 who have lost a loved one) St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity or St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital.

The description of his "trademark teasing smile and twinkle in his squinty eyes" couldn't have been said any better. I will miss that exact thing the most. I could always count on Bob teasing and giving me a hard time, but that is how I knew he cared about me. You are one of the great ones Bob, and we will miss you dearly. All our love to Bob's amazing family. He and Helen passed many wonderful traits to you all, and we're blessed to know and love you. Thank you for sharing your father and...

Bob and my husband David worked on Habitat projects together and knew each other from golf. He was always an exceptionally friendly man and he will be greatly missed. There is, unfortunately, a number of wonderful Duncan Hills golfers up There to greet him. My deepest sympathies to the family.
