Robert, or as may of us at Food Lion called him, Peek, was a man with great passion for his family, his boats and his work at Deep Creek Lock. He was an extremely hard worker and loved to tell me stories when I worked with him at Food Lion. I always enjoyed seeing his smiling face when he’d come in shopping after leaving Food Lion. “Peek” you will be greatly missed and it was such an honor to have worked with you and to have gotten to know you. To his family, boy did he ever treasure you.

I will miss all the talks Robert and I had over the many years at the DC Lock.

Robert was a nugget of Conch Playing gold in the Dismal Swamp. He was such a breath of fresh air ( more so when one of his sons convinced him to quit smoking) :). When we would see that Robert was on Duty is a sign that it would be a great day. We will miss him greatly. Our Prayers and thoughts are with his family.
