While I knew Mr. Perry for only a relatively short time, I too can echo prior thoughts expressed here that he was a great family man. While growing up in Concord with Bruce and spending a lot of time at their house, I got to see firsthand the strong influence he had on his family. In particular, I remember that he was very good at recognizing when Bruce and I were up to no good and making sure that we kept out of trouble. Like my brother Kevin, I also knew Mr. Perry as the father of my friend who lived two doors down the block. When I was young I was only aware of seeing Mr. Perry come and go around the neighborhood. But as an adult I got to know him and appreciate his intelligence and the diversity of his interests. Growing up in Concord, Mass. two doors down from the Perry's, I only knew Mr. Perry as my good friend's Dad. In later years, I got to know Mr. Perry (I have a hard time calling him Bob, Robert) on a different level and got to appreciate his warmth and gracious personality as I became an adult. Now that I'm a Father, I can appreciate the challenges and rewards of raising children and respect people like Mr. Perry for being a wonderful Dad, friend and husband who has left this world a better...
