Robert C. Pfaff, Federal Executive

Robert Charles Pfaff 81, longtime Fanwood resident, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Overlook Medical Center.

Mr. Pfaff, a real estate appraiser by profession, was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York, for 25 years. He retired as the Director of Real Estate, North Atlantic Division, in 1993.

He was a former member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and attended Newark College of Engineering before serving with the 33rd Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War.

With the mind of an engineer and the soul of a poet, Bob's interests ranged from building telescopes to making huge batches of french fries and secret-recipe potato pancakes for his family, friends and neighbors. Many were the happy recipients of one of his Origami lilies. Children simply melted his heart.

He is survived by his wife Alexandra (nee) Henderson; a daughter, Eva Marie of New York, NY; a son, Eric William of Rutherford, NJ; and two sisters; Evelynne Kiley of Williamsburg, VA and Maryann Murray of Dallas, TX.

A memorial service will be planned in the coming weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to support the Fanwood PBA, Local 123, c/o Fanwood Police Department, 75 North Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023.

Not sure what to say?

Last time we saw cousin Robert he said he was going to invite us over for Potato pancakes. Sorry we never did set a date. May fond memories of your loving Robert bring a smile to your face.
With sympathy, Jim & Judy(Pfaff) Hope

Sorrow for all. I wish I knew him better. Had not seen Bob since perhaps the 1980s.

Condolences to Alexandra Eva and Eric. Mr. Pfaff was larger than life and will be missed.

Eva and Eric,
