Robert C. Plata, Sr., 82, of Coplay passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township surrounded by his loving family. Born July 4, 1934 in Cementon, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Biss) Plata. Robert and his wife Virginia R. (Geosits) Plata celebrated 56 years of marriage on April 23rd. Robert retired from Balford Farms in Allentown and previously worked for Woods Catering and A&B Meats. Robert's faith was important to him serving as a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus member and also past President of the St. Lawrence the Martyr Holy Name Society in North Catasauqua. He is a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Whitehall. He honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Robert enjoyed watching sports and he was an avid bowler. Survivors: wife, Virginia R.; daughters, Hilda, wife of Carl Seier of Coplay, Laura, wife of David Skarwecki of Mechanicsville, MD and Mary Kelly, wife of Martin Cohick of Schnecksville; son, Robert Plata, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of York; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruthann, wife of Roland Grieshammer, AnnMarie, wife of Thomas Pavlinsky, Mary Helen Plata and Monica Plata; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Michael and David and a sister, Virginia E. Plata. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Whitehall, PA 18052. Family and friends may call Thursday 9 - 10:30 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Whitehall.
