CARY – Robert "Bob" W. Pleva, 84, of Cary, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Mayflower Nursing Home in Grinnell, Iowa.
He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Cary, to the late Rudolph and Lillian Pleva.
He married the late Doris Peterson on Sept. 9, 1950, in Crystal Lake. Bob and Doris were married for 55 years.
Bob lived his entire life in Cary. He worked for Reilly-Lakeshore Electro Plating in Chicago until 1972, and in 1975, he started Bob's Home Improvement in Cary. Bob was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake and enjoyed gardening, visiting the farm in Carney, Mich., and church activities. Most of all, Bob loved the Lord and his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Richard (Ruby) Pleva, Bobby (Sandi) Pleva, Diane (Dick) Tollberg, Patty (Paul) Barker and Paul (Wendy) Pleva; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Rudy Pleva; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Doris, Bob was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barb Pleva.
The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake, 575 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake. The burial will be private in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's name may be made to Crystal Lake Evangelical Free Church.
