Robert Posekany Obituary

Robert E. Posekany

MANSFIELD: Robert E. Posekany, 89, of Mansfield passed away early Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home. Robert was born in Shelby, Ohio on November 21, 1928. He was the son of Edward and Orthella (Arter) Posekany.

Robert was a humble, kind, quiet, gentle man with a huge giving heart. He was happiest when he was volunteering and spent many years after retirement volunteering at the Salvation Army, a charity that was near and dear to his heart. Farming was in his blood and even while working full time at Hartman Electric, he never stopped farming. He grew up on a farm in Ganges. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Robert is survived by his children, Dean (Lisa Crow) Posekany, Donald (Janet Heenan) Posekany, and Susan Dyson; grandchildren, Jamie, Allison and Brian Posekany, Adrienne (Curtis) SanNichols, Alex Shephard, Benjamin Dyson, Michael (Marissa Wood) Dyson, Carrie Dyson, and Jessica (Adam) Backensto who was also his dedicated caregiver; great-grandchildren, James, Quinn, Jayden, Judy, Jaden and Henry; special friend and caregiver, Lorretta Dunn; and his sister, Shirley Gardner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Posekany; his second wife, Frances Comer; brother, Richard D. Posekany; sister, Mary Lou Amert; and two nephews.

A private graveside service has been held at Mansfield Memorial Park. A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Salvation Army Church, 47 South Main Street Mansfield, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army.

To each of you our hearts go out to you with care and hugs. Bob was a gentleman and a dear friend. He was one of the very best father and grandfather ever. Bob lived his faith and lead by example. His kindness and good humor always radiated from his eyes and beautiful smile. His generous heart was inclusive to family, friends, and anyone he met. May the angles sit with each of you and your heart be comforted. L6bSh

Bob's smile would light up a room! The world would be a much better place if we had more men like Robert Posekany in it. He was a true gentleman and was always ready to help anyone who needed it.
