Suburban Dad
Robert Pugliese was a true suburban dad. He took the two-hour trip from his job as an assistant vice president at Marsh & McLennan to his house in East Fishkill, N.Y., in stride. As soon as he got home, there were bowling matches, basketball games and softball games to attend. Although his long trip prevented him from taking the lead in coaching his children's teams, he still kept score or coached at third base. When Mr. Pugliese's three children became teenagers, he took on a new role as their personal chauffeur, often driving them to and from part-time jobs. Sometimes he took them in his 1978 Thunderbird, a rust- brown hulk of a car with a peeling interior that he inherited from his father in 1993. "Everybody knew him because of that car," his wife, Maureen Pugliese, said. "As long as he put his key in the car and it started, that was fine with him. He didn't care what kind of a car he had."

The car, which is no longer running, is parked on the street in front of the family's home. It is a daily reminder of Mr. Pugliese. "Nothing was a problem," his mother, Josephine Pugliese, said. "He would say, 'Mother don't worry. As long as I've got my health, I'm the richest person in the world.' "

Single Memorial Tree

I think about him during the anniversaries of 9/11 and wondering if perhaps we were distant relatives. I recently did the ancestry DNA and I found some relatives that lived in NY.

In Memory
With Honor & Respect.

Dear Maureen & family,
Thinking of you today. We always stop at the 9/11 memorial at the NYS Fair every year for Robert. Hope all is well with you. God Bless

A few months ago I visited the 9/11 memorial. I walked up to the area where all the names of the victims were on display. The very first person I came up to was Robert Pugliese. I'm not sure if we were related since we have the same last name but it did make me wonder out of all the names I could have first approached why Robert. Rest in Peace.

I remember Robert visiting us at the Jersey Shore when we were youngsters. He was an avid Yankee Fan and I was a Met Fan. We had such great fun during those times....

Thinkin of you and your family today. Very sad day. God Bless.

I am proud to dedicate my Facebook status to you, a family man, a loving father and husband, today. I have 3 children myself and a loving wife. The Ford Thunderbird has always been one of my all-time favorite cars, and the Yankees are unarguably the greatest baseball team of all time. I am truly sorry that I never had the chance to meet you; I'll bet that we would have been good friends. You will always be remembered.

I had the privilege to meet Mr. Robert Pugliese at Ms. Josephine home one day. My wife Margie Medina worked with Ms. Joan Favure @ Roosevelt High School in The Bronx. He was visiting with Ms. Josephine this day that I met him. It was an honor to have met him. It was an honor to have partaken with his family as well.
It was a brief meeting. In that short time I knew he was a great person. God Bless. From the Medina Family I would like to extend our condolences to you and family.
