Although I first met Lee as a medical collegue, we were closest while sharing outdoor experiences. He went with me and Mike Hauty on an infamously bad spring ski trip to the Sierras in 1995, and then there was a wonderfully epic ski tour in Europe last May. His love of nature filled every day. And he was a great bridge partner in the Alpine huts of Switzerland when there wasn't much else to do at night.
