Robert Lohr Purinton, 90 of Mystic, died Sunday October 5, 2025, at his residence with his wife at his side. Robert was born on November 27, 1934, in Hartford, Connecticut to Bradford Purinton and Ethel Lohr Purinton. He married Janet Ferguson Sorrell, she survived him.
Robert graduated from Old Lyme High School. He proudly served in the Coast Guard Reserves and the US Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an electrical designer at Electric Boat. Later he founded his own company as a consultant to Amtrac on railroad bridges.
Besides his beloved wife Janet, he is survived by Daughters: Bonney O’Brien, Amy Torre and her husband Michael; Son: Andrew Sorrell; Grandchildren: Alix, Jenna, Danny, Olivia, Ian, Madison and Taennyr.
He was predeceased by his Son: Daniel Purinton and his wife Anna Tollis Purinton; Daughter: Laura Sorrell O’Neill and her husband Mark.
At Robert’s request, services are private.
