Dear Bruce,
I am very sad to learn of your passing, yet so thankful to have known you.
You were a wonderful teacher and mentor who freely shared your knowledge and your incredible passion, and I can never thank you enough for inviting me and so many others along on your fun and insatiable pursuit of knowledge.
I’ve many happy memories of you - your big and unbridled laughter, your ‘kiwi-isms’, your improvised hockey shin pads, showing Robbo’s infamous ‘Full...

Bruce was a prince. His infectious humour, the great broad smile, the fine camaraderie in the field, and his unstinting patience are legendary. He commanded respect from all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by his family and by all the students and colleagues whose lives were enriched by his very presence among us. I hoist my glass, Bruce.

Bruce was a great friend in the Geography Department. While I was a grad student there, he was such a tremendous support to all grad students whether we belonged to him or not.
