Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to hear of Rev. Bob's death. I had the honour of being a child for a few years in the early 1970's at North Presbyterian where he was the pastor and his wife, Edith, my Sunday School teacher. I became best friends with Mary (Lyatal) during those years. I continue to have strong memories of our years in Kalamazoo, before moving to Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Mary, if you or someone close to you reads this, I would love to reconnect with you.

Your are always on my mind

I was at HHI secondary school when I first met |Bob and immediately we made friends and he began teaching me piano playing . I finished Older beginner 1 and did older beginner 2 half way. In 1988 , he almost took HHI good news quartet to kalamazoo, a quartet to which I was part of.We did bible study together especially on the book of John. On numerous occasions I went to his Manse for cookies. I will always miss him.

The Rasmussens' were our pastoral family in Colcord WV during my teen years. Rev. Rasmussen was a most kind hearted, caring person and was a joy to be around. He made me smile so often with his wit and his laugh that shook his shoulders. We had the best Youth Group when he was our minister and had so much fun learning about God and hearing his amazing talent at the piano. He is one person I will never forget. Condolences to his family. Now he is a true angel of God in heaven as he was on...

Bob and Edith were close personal friends, dating from our associating as fellow missionaries in Malawi. Our fellowship
continued with occasional home visits and
attendance at the New Wilmington Mission
Conference in Pennsylvania.

Rev. Bob will be missed. His warm smile and gentle nature will always stay with me. His beautiful piano playing always amazed me. I so enjoyed hearing him play. A song he First introduced me to I Sweet Sweet Spirit . I was so glad that I was able to see him again at my sister in laws psssing. Rev Bob has always been special in the lives of the Johnson Family. James and Mary Johnson regret we were unable to be in Kalamazoo to pay our respects. Our love and good thoughts go out to his family.

What a mighty man of God, a scholar. He truly was a light of God in this community and God's ambassador as he touched live here and abroad. Thankful for the opportunity to have worked with him, and to have sat at his feet and learned from him. He has earned his reward and has reached his eternal destiny. Blessings to the family for sharing your gift.

My prayers are with you as you go through this transition.

The Rasmussen's were not only our Pastor's, they were our mentors and close friends. They often spent time with us at our home in Mapanga, but in later years they would even stopover in Nairobi for a chat as they transited at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport. On the personal side we attribute many huge milestones which were shared with them or they initiated. In 1994 Ruth and I spent two months of missionary work at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Michigan through an arrangement with PCUSA and...
