A Real 'Mr. Mom'
When Robert Regan first met Donna Wells, he was 21 and she was 15. He was tall, dark-haired, and "had the most beautiful blue-green eyes that you ever wanted to see," she remembered. She was having trouble with geometry, and he helped her with her homework. They started dating. "It was a big scandal back then," she said. But Mr. Regan was the quietly determined sort and a friend of Donna's older sister, so her parents eventually gave their permission for them to go out.
They married, and Mr. Regan became a civil engineer. But when Caitlin, their daughter, was born, Mr. Regan quit his job to join the Fire Department so he could have more flexible hours and spend more time with the baby. Four years later, Brendan was born. "He was Mr. Mom," Mrs. Regan said of her husband's delight in his children.
Lieutenant Regan, 48, was a member of Engine Company 205, Ladder Company 118 in Brooklyn Heights, and when word came of the World Trade Center attack, he and his fellow firefighters sped to the scene.
"There was never a day that went by that we didn't know what we had," Mrs. Regan said. "We told our kids not everybody gets to be as happy as we are."
I am doing a research project on our fallen brothers and sisters. I chose Robert because I am a Lt on a department myself. I also picked him because I am also 48 years old. Rest in peace brother.

We visited the memorial on 10/26/2019 as part of my son's 13th birthday celebration in NY. He didn't want to go because he thought it might be too sad, but I told him we need to honor the people who lost their lives that day. He agreed, and the exact spot we came first up to was Robert's name, you see our surname is Regan too. We all where so shocked. Special prayers to Robert's family, and we will always cherish this memory.

Hi, I've read some other messages from people on here and like some of them, I climbed in honor of Robert in the Lambeau stair climb today, 9/22/18. It was an honor to comemorate him, especially after I was able to read a little about him and his family. I pray that the Lord is with his family and all those who knew him. He is truly mussed by many.

On Saturday, September 9, I walked in honor of Lt. Robert M. Regan during the second annual Salem Fire Protection District 9/11 Memorial Service and Day in the Park held in Bryan Memorial Park, Salem, IL. Those of us who did the memorial walk of "110 stories" got to pick a picture of a person killed 16 years ago. I was honored to remember him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

To the family of Lt. Regan, I am a Lieutenant in Northern Colorado. I'm humbled to have participated in the 9-11 Denver Memorial Stair Climb, with 343 other brothers and sisters representing a fallen member of the FDNY. I'm honored to have climbed for and recently for your husband, your father, your hero, who you called "Mr. Mom." His photo is currently posted next to my gear while hanging in the station. I came to this site to find more information about his life. I promise to never forget...
