Dr. Rood was my diabetes doctor back in the 80's and 90's. He was wonderful and the doctor I compare every other endocrinologist to. He will be missed. Such a good man and great healer.

Phyllis, I was both shocked and saddened to see Robert's obituary online just today. I remember him from St. Jos. in A2 then again we all met again in GR. Robert was a wonderful human being--kind, devoted to his patients, and always smiling, and how he loved his family. I send heartfelt condolences to you and your family. What a tremendous loss. Wishing you peace, comfort and healing.

Just read of Bob's passing in the MSU alumni magazine. Bob lived next door to me in Bailey Hall 1968-1970. He was very diligent in his studies. I was pleased to read of his distinguished career. Peace be with the family.

My heart breaks! Dr. Rood was more than a doctor to my younger sister and I from the time we were in our teens, both being diabetic, he gave us the best care we would have ever received, even till this day. I will be 49 this year, we always called him father Rood. I had my one and only child at age 31, I also had Hyperemisis grevaderia, so along with the diabetes it made for a very high risk situation. Dr. Rood would come into my hospital room to check on me, cuz he cared, and sat on my bed...

Phyllis and family - I just heard about Dr Rood´s passing from Debbie Ruster. I was so saddened!! He fought his disease valiantly!! I don´t believe I ever heard anyone ever say an unkind word, about him. He was a great leader, in his field! He will be missed by many!! Please accept my most sincere condolences. I believe that we were at MSU, at the same time. Lets hope our team can pull off the big game of the season, in his memory.

I have been a type 1 diabetic since 1960, and 1st had Keats Vining as my 1st doctor, and at some time, Dr. Rood and Dr. Vining had an office together as I recall. Dr. Rood was a great doctor to have, and a really neat person to know and have as a doctor. One time he told me to walk a straight line, and he said I would be going to jail if I was pulled over. Great person - will miss him for sure. Rest in peace.
