LtCol Robert Rosenthal was my Squadron Commander during my combat tour with the 100th Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force, in World War ll. Col. Rosenthal was universally respected and admired by all who knew him because of his iron-willed integrity and high character. His memory is an icon of honesty setting an example for personal honor for generations to come.

Rosie was really a true hero and legend. He was inspiration to many and loved by us - the younger generation, also as by his men of the 350th and 418th BS of the 100th BG. Thank you Rosie for your duty, your nice friendship and love. Deep sympathy to Philis and the entire family. In behalf of your Czech friends and your men perished on 11th September 1944...

A truly admirable person. A genuine patriot.
I would like to say more, but I cannot find the words.
May he rest in peace.

My husband, a physician, clipped out the obit and showed it to me.
I never knew Robert Rosenthal, but I sent his obituary to my children and grandchildren. I want them to be proud of a real Jewish-American hero.
