Not sure what to say?

A fine man. Pleasure to be around. A kind mentor for the young finding there way in cop land. Solid steady dependable.

Bob and I first met in 1960 when he and I were relatively new officers on different departments. He was a joy to work with, great sense of humor and an impressive officer. Our condolences to Una and the family. Bob will surely be missed by all who knew him. R.I.P.

Uncle Bob was always my super hero.

Clearly many of us had the same impression of Bob Runkle. He did always have a quick smile and a friendly word.

Bob was my best friend on the mountain in Swains Creek. And taught me everything I know about mountain life. His sons were a huge part of my lovely home up there. He raised them well. He was always upbeat and I never saw him down or in a bad mood. My condolences to the wonderful Runkle Family. Bob will truly be missed by all who knew him. Pam Moinette

Bob was my first patrol supervisor at CCSO. He was a great guy to work with and always willing to share his knowledge. My condolences to wife Una and family. RIP my friend

We knew a Ray Runkle who used to come and help my dad and brothers after cutting trees....Ray would bring a Model A frame and a Model A engine with a big blade. Four guys would feed a log and Ray would cut them into chunks. I think the men had a good time working together. I...

Uncle Runkle,

The world won't be the same without you.
