I received the sad news of the passing of Bob, W1DDO, or as he humorously and self-effacingly referred to his call sign phonetically, "Ding-Dong Operator."
Having met him on the airwaves only about a decade ago, I never got to know him as well as I'd have liked. However, I enjoyed talking to Bob on 75 meters immediately following his regularly scheduled conversations with former General Radio coworkers on Friday and Saturday mornings. For many years it was a pleasure to encounter Bob's cheerful greeting and his always constructive take on things. I last saw him three years ago at the Retiree's lunch. He lived a great life, and leaves warm memories.
