SATTERFIELD, Robert Frank "Bob," 82, a much loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away June 19, 2013. Bob faced cancer in the same way he lived his life, with pride and courage. Born on October 12, 1930 in Lyman, S.C., he was an Eagle Scout, attended Clemson University and was a First Lieutenant in the Korean War. Shortly after being honorably discharged in 1960 with a Bronze Star, Bob moved to Richmond, Va. to start his professional career. He was a safety engineer for Liberty Mutual and eventually Johnson & Higgins. It was in Richmond where he met his lifelong companion, Ann Bankhead. They wed in 1962 and had two children, Robin and David. Ann, Robin and David live in Richmond and are grateful for the life Bob provided for them. Devoted to his faith, Bob became the administrator at Derbyshire Baptist Church after retirement and spent his life in pursuit of his faith. Bob is survived by his wife, Ann Bankhead Satterfield; daughter, Robin Ann Satterfield; son, David Martin Satterfield and wife, Koren; granddaughters, Delany and Summer; and a beloved sister-in-law, Dot Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Milman I. and Volvinee Satterfield; and his brother, Don Satterfield. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 in the sanctuary of Derbyshire Baptist Church. A reception will follow the service, where family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Derbyshire Baptist Church or Massey Cancer Center.

Not sure what to say?

Bob will be missed by friends and family. Your family is in my thoughts and family.

Ann and Family,

I met Bob only once since your move to Park Commons, but I feel your loss and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Know that your new neighbors are here to help in any way you might need us. We are all family. May God bless you in your time of loss and may your faith remain strong.

Ann and family,
I wanted to express my deepest sympathies for your loss. I was fortunate to have worked for Bob at Johnson and Higgins. Bob was a great leader, mentor and friend. He is a gentlemen in every aspect and many of us in the safety profession were blessed to have worked with him. His leadership style was always fair, supportive, thoughtful and delivered with grace. I have many fond memories including his playing in our golf tournament in Georgia, after he retired, beating...

Ann and Family,
Please accept my condolences for you loss. Having the pleasure of working with Bob a number of years at J&H, I know the loss is great. Bob was a true professional, a great Safety Engineer, but even a better person, a true Clemson Tiger and I am very fortunate to have known and worked with him.

Ann,Robin & David I knew your Dad for many years as we worked together at J&H. He is a total professional & set the bar high for his fellow safety engineers and was always there to listen when you needed advice. A true Gentleman.

Ann and family, even from afar we feel your loss. You and Derbyshire have lost a cornerstone.
