Not sure what to say?

Bob was a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many. His passion for the outdoors and the wonders of the natural environment inspired many. Our condolences and warmest regards to Bob's family and friends from the staff and members of the Downeast Coastal Conservancy in Maine.

Dear William, David, Lisa and Tony,

First of all I am sorry that I have been traveling and just saw the news of Dr. Sheer's passing. I apologize for writing so late.

Your Dad was a GEM. Nurses love Doctors who are devoted to their patients and as a nurse I loved him for that. But I also loved him for his smile and, of course, as many a young student nurse thought he was just the handsomest guy.

I am thankful for being able to share some of my memories and thoughts...

I met Bob through his son Bill and daughter in law Brenda. When visiting their camp during the summer, I always found him entertaining - very lively and eager to converse and discuss just about anything! I was envious of his mile swims off their dock on Skaneateles Lake, which he did into his 80s. He certainly had a full life even into his later years. But the body and mind grow tired, and it was time to move on...

I was a patient from 1981 until Dr. Scheer's retirement. He was the man that made me pay attention and got me through most of 18 years on dialysis and two failed transplants. He became a part of the team that kept the successful 2000 transplant going. You will be missed.

Jim "JJ" Galvin

It was a pleasure working with Dr. Sheer in dialysis, mid to late 80s, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
My condolences to his family, friends and caregivers.

I grew up in Syracuse, and David and I became friends during our college years at Colgate. I recall Dr. Scheer's graciousness and broad smile as I was welcomed many times into the house on Genesee Street. My sympathies to you all.

A gentleman I respected greatly.

Leonard Levy, MD
