Robert Lee Selman, Jr, (Bob to his friends and family) was born September 3, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas. He passed from this earthly life to his eternal life on January 30, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lois Selman and his sister Edna Selman Jenkins. He was raised on a farm/ranch in Milnesand, New Mexico but went to school and church in Bledsoe, Texas. He met and married his wife, Effie Mae Hine of Melrose, NM, while both were attending Eastern New Mexico University. Bob graduated from Texas Tech University with both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. He worked in the college creamery and later became a member of the dairy science faculty. In 1971, he was hired by Pfizer, Inc. and the family moved "up north" to Wisconsin. Bob worked in the cheese industry for 28 years, first in sales and then as technical support for cheese producers all over the U.S. and in Europe. In 1999, Bob and Effie retired to Sun City, Texas where they enjoyed golf, their church and Rotary activities. They were blessed with good neighbors and friends over the years. In addition to his wife Effie, of Georgetown, TX, Bob is survived by three children: Robert L. Selman of Jackson, MS; Susan Harrington (Suzette Bartlein) of Waxahachie, TX; and Kristi (Bob) Duncan of Platte City, MO. Bob was also blessed with nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. A Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday,February 2nd. A memorial service will be held at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales, NM at 10 a.m. on Wednesday February 4th with burial next to his parents and grandparents in the City of Portales Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chisolm Trail Community Foundation (memo: Sun City Rotary) or The Worship Place Building Fund.
