Bob Sharples was a work colleague who became a great friend. What was unusual about our friendship was that we worked at cross-purposes: He was the Times-News composing-room foreman, and I edited Showcase. It was my job to make the magazine as mistake-free as possible; his job was to get it out the door as fast as possible. Somehow, we did both pretty frequently. I was glad to volunteer during 2008 Presidential campaign and get to know

A great man will be missed. I offer my condolences to the whole Sharples extended family. memories of Trivial Pursuit on Hess Ave. playing on his team because I was too little to be on my own against the others.

Bob was fellow co-worker and a dear friend to my parents. He always had a smile on his face and a up beat attitude. It was with great sadness when mom told me of his passing. God bless your family and help you through your period of morning.

I was so sad to hear of Bob's passing, what a wonderful family man and all around good guy. Loved hearing all the stories of the many, many accomplishments of his whole family while cutting his hair, and what great hair! Thinking of you Cathy, Lisa and Rob and knowing he's watching over you smiling.
