I fell in love with Robert Sherrill when I read and reviewed his book "The Accidental President" back in the 1960s. Having just belatedly learned of his death, I went back to read a slew of his articles in the Nation. What an incredibly talented pen! Someone should put together a "Robert Sherrill Reader" to make his fugitive pieces readily available. Thank you, Robert Sherrill, for your wonderful writing, and condolences to the family.

I had the pleasure of having Bob as a teacher in college, after which he became a mentor to me as a young reporter. I so admired his writing, and he had a great influence on my career. My condolences.

to Mrs. Sherrill. Please accept my deepest condolences. I was a reporter for the Washington Post for many years and I was a great admirer, and friend of Bob's. He would give me his advice from time to time and it was always brilliant.
Sincerely, George Lardner Jr.
