View Funeral Webcast Robert Gene "Bobby" Shouse, 69, retired owner-operator of Shouse Roofing Company and resident of Leiper's Creek Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 while attending a Santa Fe High School class reunion. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Stan Butt, Mike Williams, and Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Cleveland Shouse and Ethel Hood Shouse and a 1957 graduate of Santa Fe High School. He was a former elder and member of Water Valley Church of Christ for over 50 years. Following his retirement after suffering a stroke, Mr. Shouse was diligent in efforts to keep the roadways around the community free of trash and spent many hours in his wheelchair clearing the area of cans and other debris. He was an avid outdoorsman and coon-hunter. He and his wife, the former Betty White, married May 9, 1959 and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next Saturday. Additional survivors include daughters, Bonnie (Danny) Lunn of Santa Fe and Beverly Thomason of Columbia; sisters, Clara Mae (Paul) Malugin of Columbia, Martha Nichols of Mt. Juliet, and Faye (Gerald) Adkison of Santa Fe; brothers, Arthur (Janet) Shouse of Lawrenceburg and J. W. (Jewell) Shouse of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Destiny Hazlett, Brandon (Julie) Dodson, Josh Thomason, Tyler Lunn, and Zak Lunn; great-grandchildren, Hailey Hazlett, Austin Hazlett, Kaleb Hazlett, Riley Dodson, and Adelyn Dodson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maudie Adell and Kirby White; brothers-in-law, Bernis White, L. G. (Edith) White, and Fred White. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Lee Shouse. Active pallbearers are Lee Norman, Monte Norman, Wade Sullivan, James Dawes, Kevin Hall, Joey Mills, Tracy Wilkins, and Micah Dukes. Honorary pallbearers include members of Water Valley Church of Christ.
